Music cards

For the person at the table who says they know every song.

100 assignments

Hitify

Name three artists from the same decade in ten seconds.

Hitify

Group picks a decade. Name a song from it or lose a card.

Hitify

Name a year. Every player holding a card within five years of it must name a song from that decade or lose a card.

The category that leans into the game you are already playing. Name another song by this artist, sing the next line, hum something and make your neighbour guess it. These land harder than generic dares because they are about the track that just played.

A good number are duels: you against the player on your left, or the whole table going round until somebody blanks. That turns a guess-the-year game into something with an argument in it, which is what people actually remember about a games night.

It suits a music-obsessed group and it suits a mixed one, because plenty of these reward enthusiasm rather than knowledge. Singing badly still counts.

How the music cards work

  1. 01 Shuffle them in. They are indistinguishable from song cards until scanned.
  2. 02 Most refer to the track that just played, so the timing does the work.
  3. 03 Resolve it, then draw again.

FAQ

Do I need to be good at music trivia?
No. Plenty of these are about singing, humming or guessing rather than knowing, and the group decides what counts.
Do they use the song that just played?
Many of them do, which is why they work better than a separate music quiz.
How many do I get?
You choose 5, 10 or 20 percent extra cards on top of your pack.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, though the kids category is written specifically for six to twelve.
